Is it possible to split a single, large network into smaller nodes/ip ranges to decrease scan times?
January 11, 2011 at 11:16 am #2179Would creating groups accomplish this?
January 11, 2011 at 12:05 pm #2175Hi Bobby
We accomplished this via the AD, importing the AD structure and then selecting each individual group to scan at one time and repeating until all the groups from the AD were imported.
hope that helps you out.
January 11, 2011 at 12:08 pm #2176Each AD container is scanned separately?
January 11, 2011 at 12:12 pm #2177Generally we have our AD stucture as:
ourdomain.co.uk
group1
group2
group3
etc
etcSelecting ourdomain.co.uk will scan all the groups / computers in the AD but selecting an individual group will scan just the machines under that group
One of the good things is that NIA will keep the machines grouped for you which makes administration that much easier.
January 11, 2011 at 2:34 pm #2162Groups will surely do this! We are working on adding network-level management in the next version of Network Inventory Advisor. However, even now groups proved they can be of a great help any way.
